Privacy Policy

This policy explains what CSCS Practice Test collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It is written to comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The short version: you do not need an account, we do not ask for your name, and your mock test answers never leave your device.
As at the date below no analytics tool is installed, and there is no advertising on this site at all. Google Analytics is planned, and this policy describes in advance what it would collect so you can see what you would be consenting to. Nothing optional runs unless you opt in through the cookie banner.
1. Who we are
CSCS Practice Test (https://cscspracticetest.co.uk) is operated by The CSCS Practice Test Team, Unit 7, Northgate Business Centre, 118 Kingsway, Manchester M19 2FR. For the purposes of data protection law we are the data controller for this website.

2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
Only what you choose to send. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to fix reported errors, and nothing else.
We do not operate user accounts, we do not ask for your name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number or CITB registration number, and we never ask for payment details because the site is free.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Today this is limited to the server logs our hosting provider keeps in order to serve the site and defend it against abuse. Those record the IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser's user-agent string.
If we later add analytics, and only after you opt in, the following would also be collected. We are listing it now rather than quietly adding it later:
- Analytics data: IP address (usually truncated by the analytics provider), approximate location at city level, device and browser type, pages visited, referring site and time of visit.
- Cookie and similar identifiers set by analytics, described in our Cookie Policy.
2.3 Your mock test answers
Your answers, scores and flagged questions are held in your browser for the duration of the test so the app can score you. They are not transmitted to us and we cannot see them. Close the tab and they are gone.
3. How we use your information
- To run and improve the website, including understanding which pages and question topics are used most.
- To reply to your emails and process corrections you report.
- To keep the site secure and to investigate abuse.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. Our lawful bases for processing
- Consent: for non-essential analytics cookies. You give this through the cookie banner and can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests: for the secure operation of the website and for responding to correspondence you initiate.
- Legal obligation: where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary ones make the site work and need no consent. Analytics cookies are off by default and only run if you opt in. There are no advertising cookies.

6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is no advertising on this site.
If you decline analytics cookies, no data about your visit is shared with Google at all.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited), which processes usage data on our behalf. Only after you opt in.
- Hosting and infrastructure: Vercel Inc., which processes server logs in order to serve the site.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to disclose.
7. International transfers
Our hosting provider, and Google Analytics once enabled, are US-headquartered and may process data outside the UK.
Google services are contracted through Google Ireland Limited and rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, together with Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable.
Vercel Inc. relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum for transfers outside the UK and EEA.
Because analytics requires your opt-in, declining it means no transfer takes place for that purpose.
8. How long we keep it
- Emails you send us: kept while the matter is open and for 24 months after the matter is closed, so we have a record of reported errors and what we did about them.
- Analytics data: retained for 14 months in line with our Google Analytics retention setting, then deleted automatically.
- Server logs: approximately 30 days, as retained by our hosting provider.
- Your cookie choice: held in your browser until you change or clear it. We do not hold a copy.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these, email contact@cscspracticetest.co.uk. We will respond within one month. Because we hold very little about you, an access request usually turns up nothing more than an email thread.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
10. Automated decision-making and profiling
We do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you, and we do not profile you. Your mock test score is calculated in your own browser and is never sent to us, so it is not a decision we make about you at all.
There is no advertising on this site, so there is no ad personalisation to object to.
11. Whether you have to give us anything
No. There is no statutory or contractual requirement to provide us with any personal data, and there is nothing on this site you need an account for. You can take every test and read every page without telling us anything about yourself. If you email us, that is your choice and you decide what to include.
12. Children's privacy
The site is aimed at adults and at young people entering construction. Candidates under 16 can sit the CITB test with parental consent, so some of our readers will be under 16.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, we do not require any account, and we run no advertising. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Data security
The site is served over HTTPS and we keep our software up to date. We hold almost no personal data, which is the strongest protection available.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Links to other sites
We link to CITB, CSCS, Pearson VUE, the HSE and others. Once you follow a link you are on their site and their privacy policy applies, not ours.
15. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The Last Updated date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be flagged on the site.
