Editorial Policy

1. What we publish

We do not publish general construction news, job listings, training course sales, or health and safety guidance for real-world workplaces. Those are outside what we can do well, so we leave them alone.

• Practice questions and worked explanations for the CITB HS&E test.
• Guides to the test itself: format, pass mark, cost, booking, ID and test day.
• Guides to the CSCS card scheme: card types, eligibility routes and rule changes.

2. How we verify facts

Every factual claim about the test, its cost, the card scheme or the rules is checked against the primary source, which means citb.co.uk for the test and cscs.uk.com for cards.

We record the date we checked and publish it on the page. Where a fact is time-sensitive, such as a fee or a validity period, we re-check it on a schedule rather than assuming it holds.

We do not treat competitor revision sites as sources. During research we found several publishing an out-of-date fee, an out-of-date list of specialist topics and a retired publication code, which is precisely why they cannot be relied on.

4. Authorship and accountability

Content is written and reviewed by a named individual, whose team page states plainly what he is qualified to say and what he is not. Anonymous safety-adjacent content is not acceptable, including when the author is simply a writer rather than a practitioner.

We are actively seeking a qualified construction health and safety professional to review the question bank. Until that has happened, we say so rather than implying clinical authority we do not have.

5. Editorial independence

The site currently carries no advertising and no affiliate links. If either is added, neither would buy influence over our content, and the rules we would follow are published in advance in our Affiliate Disclosure.

No advertiser or affiliate partner sees content before publication, or has any right of approval. We will report a fee, a rule or a limitation accurately even where it costs us a commission, including telling readers when a free official resource is a better option than a paid product.

Sponsored content, if we ever publish any, will be labelled clearly as such at the top of the page.

6. Updates and corrections

Pages covering time-sensitive facts are reviewed on a regular cadence and carry a visible verification date.

When we get something wrong we fix it and say so. The process, including how to report an error, is in our Corrections policy.

7. Guest contributions

We accept contributions from people with genuine, relevant construction health and safety experience. We do not accept guest posts placed for links, and we do not sell placements.

Contributions are edited for accuracy and house style, published with a byline and a statement of the author's relevant experience, and are subject to the same verification standards as our own work. Pitch to contact@cscspracticetest.co.uk.

8. Use of AI tools

We use software tools, including AI-assisted research and drafting, in producing this site. Every published fact is verified by a human against the primary source, and a human is accountable for what appears.

We disclose this because you deserve to know how the material was made, and because a tool that is confidently wrong is a real risk on a topic where the answer matters.
