Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

We have not yet completed a formal third-party audit, so we describe this as our target rather than a certified achievement. Claiming compliance we have not verified would be exactly the kind of thing this site was built to push back against.

2. What we have built in

• Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, so screen readers can navigate the page.
• Keyboard operability throughout, including the mock test: options, flagging, navigation and the question navigator are all reachable and usable without a mouse.
• Visible focus states on interactive elements.
• Colour contrast checked against WCAG AA for body text and interface elements.
• Answer correctness is never signalled by colour alone. Correct and incorrect answers are also labelled in text, so the feedback works without colour perception.
• Responsive layouts that work down to small phone screens and reflow without horizontal scrolling.
• Descriptive link text rather than 'click here', and accessible names on icon-only controls.

3. Known limitations

An honest list of what is not right yet.

• The mock test timer counts down without an audible or non-visual warning as time runs short.
• We have not yet completed formal screen reader testing across NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver.
• We do not yet offer a text-to-speech read-aloud of questions, which would help candidates with reading difficulties and those who use the official voiceover option in the real test.
• We do not yet offer the site in languages other than English, although the real Operatives test is available with voiceovers in a range of languages.
• No formal independent accessibility audit has been carried out.

4. Support available in the real test

Separately from this website, CITB offers reasonable adjustments for the actual test, including voiceovers, British Sign Language interpreters and support for reading difficulties.

These must be requested when you book, not on the day. The specialist assistance line is 0344 994 4491. We mention it here because candidates who need our site to be accessible are often the same candidates who should be requesting support for the exam itself.

5. Reporting a problem

If you cannot use part of this site, email contact@cscspracticetest.co.uk and tell us what happened, which page, and what you were using, such as a screen reader, magnifier or keyboard only.

We aim to respond within five working days. Accessibility reports are treated with the same priority as a factual error, because both stop someone from using the site for what it is for.

6. Enforcement

If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service, which advises on rights under the Equality Act 2010.
